Home > IP Video Conferencing
IP video conferencing is now used by telephone companies to transfer voice traffic towards video over IP. IP video conferencing replaced Asynchronous Transfer Mode or ATM. IP video conferencing has been widely used in many industries for effective video conferencing, but not many people know the history behind this great development. For many years the telephony technology has been developed and all other applications were developed to enable video over IP. In the earlier days a technology was discovered for use with the phone companies and it was called Asynchronous Transfer Mode or ATM. This technology was used for switching and transmitting digital voice date. Today we are running our lives on Information Technology it was necessary to have a type of technology that allowed for moving large amounts of data. The ATM system was functioning great, however the computers and the Internet evolved IP took its place. It is amazing to know that IP video conferencing was started from telephone companies and other changing technologies but this really happened. It is indeed interesting to see one thing lead to another as far as technology is concerned and to see how technology is manipulated over another. ATM was said to be the best to send video and audio for some time but things changed and IP came in the scene. Nobody knows what the future holds for them but looking back in the past it is not stupid to think about the history and base of video over IP started. Many old methods and old technology were tested and implemented to bring life in IP. |
